Conflow launches electronic water flow meter for global mining market
The UK’s leading electronic water flow meter is now available to the international market, offering exceptional reliability, flexibility and accuracy to mineral extraction industries worldwide.
Conflow – a world leader in the supply of specialist systems for water control, dust suppression and fire suppression in underground mining – has upgraded its Electronic Flowmeter 5050A in response to industry demand.

The upgraded Flowmeter
The specialist meter, widely used in UK coal mining to measure the flow of fluid through pipelines, has been adapted to produce an output signal in milliamps, the standard unit for electrical monitoring equipment outside of the UK.
The original Electronic Flowmeter 5050A produces an output signal of 0.4V to 2V, while the newly adapted international version delivers a signal of 4mA to 20mA. Both systems use the same supply voltage of 12VDC and can be used on pipe diameters from ½” up to 6”.

Conflow's Electronic Flowmeter
Conflow Technical Director Roger Creasey said: “The 5050A has an exceptional track record in the UK. We are delighted to bring the benefits offered by the system to the wider global market.”
The Conflow Electronic Flowmeter 5050A measures flow, pressure and temperature and, unlike mechanical meters, allows readings to be taken remotely and sent to the surface of the mine. The unit can also be used on the pressure side of high pressure pump systems, enabling greater levels of accuracy.
